Now entering our 6th year!
 Our Beginnings
It was just after a 25-day period beginning in late January
1999 when some 6 meters (18 feet) of snow fell on the Alps. Tom
Ritzer and I were celebrating an unbelievable off track powder day in 1999 with a few rounds “Flügels” at the Krazy Kangaroo Bar,
when an
idea was born: Flügel Tours.
The idea was and is simple – let people experience the
European Alps like a local -- quaint alpine villages, hot Glühwein in rustic ski huts on the mountain, endless
off-piste skiing & après ski like no where else in the world.
We
made the inaugural trips to St. Anton, Austria
and Valgrisenche, Italy in February 2000 and we haven't looked back since.
We
continue to expand with the same type of service and experience we started with
in St. Anton.
Mark Clendenin
President & Founder
Who Are We
Mark Clendenin -- Owner & Flügel Host
 Mr. Clendenin
(often referred to as 'Clendo') has 30+ years skiing experience all over
North America, including Alaska, Canada and Europe.
Prior to Flügel Tours he spent several seasons as a ski camp instructor in Austria &
Switzerland. Mark refined his German language skills working in Germany
and studying in Switzerland. Be aware that Mark is the official trip videographer and often
catches unsuspecting clients (and sometimes himself) doing things they would rather
forget.
Thomas Ritzer -
Flügel Host
 Mr.
Ritzer (often referred to as 'Little Tom') is a
former ski racer from Munich, Germany with 30+ years experience skiing in
the German and Austrian Alps. Tom's mother tongue is German and he speaks impeccable
English. He has a nose for fine wine, quick to go first in fresh powder
and can make an endless number of tight, euro-style powder turns.
Tom lives just outside Munich with his wife Antje and son
Maximillian.
Professor Dr. Thomas Peisl - Flügel Host
 Dr. Peisl (often referred to as
'Big Tom'), is a
former ski instructor with 30+ years skiing experience in the German
and Austrian Alps. Tom speaks perfect English with a southern twang (we
can't figure out how) and received his PhD
from Washington State University. Some say he resembles Robin Williams
and sounds like Bill Murray -- no matter what, you will enjoy his company on the
slopes, over a Weißbeir or at dinner.
Rebecca Edwards - Marketing Director
& Flügel Hostess
 Ms. Edwards (often referred to as "Würmchen") is
a former U.S. Freestyle Ski Team member with 23+ years of skiing experience
in North America, Europe and New Zealand. Rebecca is more comfortable on
skis than on her feet and don't even try to keep up with her in the
moguls. She is also the drive behind all the cool marketing and advertising
materials, especially the graphics.
