ABOUT St. Anton, Austria

history...St. Anton am Arlberg is where the very first ski club in the alps was founded in 1901 and is the birthplace of alpine ski races, holding the first Arlberg-Kandahar Race was held in 1928.  It is the home of ski legends as Hannes Schneider and Karl Schranz and most recently hosted the 2001 World Cup Alpine Championships.

Location...St. Anton, located in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps in western Austria, is easily accessible via train or auto from major international airports in Zurich, Switzerland (3-hours) and Munich, Germany (4-hours).  Innsbruck, Austria is only 1.5 hours away but flights tend to be less frequent.

Terrain...Can you say powder heaven?  You get both quality and quantity in St. Anton am Arlberg.  The region offers excellent terrain (mostly above the tree line) for all ski/snowboarding levels, including groomed pistes, expert chutes and world-class backcountry touring.  The lift accessed backcountry skiing is a major draw for Arlberg and professional guides are highly recommended due to the potential avalanche dangers.
