Austria Trips - St. Anton

Trips to Austria are offered in St. Anton am Arlberg.  Located in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps in Western Austria, St. Anton is a picturesque alpine village world renown not only as the birthplace of alpine skiing but also for its incredible off-piste powder skiing and the most vibrant après ski scene in all of Europe.   St. Anton is the village every North American resort is trying to replicate -- why not visit the real thing?

Flügel St. Anton trip lets you experience St. Anton like someone who has gone there for years by pre-arranging mountain guides/instructors to harness this immense mountain and visiting a different local restaurant each evening.

St. Anton is one of six interconnected villages in the enormous Arlberg region.  There are 86 lifts that serve over 275 miles of trails and offers excellent terrain (vertical drop: 4,920 ft.) for all skiing and snowboarding abilities.  There is terrain to suit every level of skier -- from the expert who wants the challenge of +40° chutes or floating on untouched powder in the backcountry, to those who prefer to remain on the groomed piste and improve their skiing skills.

WHERE YOU SKI/BOARD...The ski options are endless with a resort this big.  We utilize local, professional ski guides and instructors to find the best skiing to match the skills and desires of each client.  For those venturing into the backcountry, a typical tour consists of taking a lift to the top, hiking for 15-60 minutes and then skiing untracked powder for 2 hours, ending up at a mountain hut for lunch.  For others, skiing is just a means to get to lunch or shopping in Lech.

WHERE YOU SLEEP...Guests are treated to true Tyrolean hospitality in the private residences of our lovely St. Anton hosts.  Accommodations are European style -- rooms or apartments with down comforters, pillows and shared bathrooms.  The village is minutes away by foot, bus or occasionally skis.

WHERE YOU EAT...Breakfast, provided with all accommodations, includes fresh baked breads and good strong European coffee to prepare you for a great day of skiing, shopping, relaxing or recovering from a late night out.  Lunch is not to be missed and is a major part of the cultural experience when skiing in Europe.  You will ski to several villages to taste the specialties of the Austrian Alps.  Evening culinary highlights include a quaint Tyrolean fondue house, a mountain restaurant where meat is prepared on a hot stone at your table, snowshoeing to a nearby village for a traditional Tyrolean meal, and the famous mountain hut where diners feast on local food before sledding down on a traditional wooden sled.

WHERE YOU PARTY...The legendary après ski in St. Anton is one of the 'must do' items on the life experiences checklist -- it blows away anything you have or will see in a North American resort.  If you ski hard but want to party harder,  MooserWirt's or Krazy Kangaroo's will provide you non-stop beers, dancing in your ski boots on tables, lots of group singing and an attempt at skiing down to town afterwards, in the dark.  Not your thing?  Classic mountain huts abound, where you can enjoy a hot Glühwein, Weißbeir or real hot chocolate.  The party goes on well into the night at downtown St. Anton bars and clubs -- please don't go in your ski boots, it's embarrassing.

Not skiiNG?...Your on-site Flügel Host can help you make other plans.  Other activities and amenities in St. Anton include cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, sledding (on traditional wooded Rödels), curling, a health/fitness center with pool and spa.  Shopping and sightseeing is also readily accessible in St. Anton as well as nearby Lech (30 minutes via bus) and Innsbruck (1.5 hours via train).

How you get there...Zurich, Switzerland and Munich, Germany are the closest major international airports.  St. Anton is easily accessible from Zurich (2.5 hours) and Munich (4 hours) via train.

Whether you follow our St. Anton itinerary or go out on your own, we will do everything we can to give you a hassle-free vacation and a true alpine experience, all at a reasonable price.
