Location...Valgrisenche, located 30 minutes up a small valley from the towns of Aosta or Courmayeur, is on the Italian side of Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc) in western Italy Aosta is accessible via train from Turin (2-hours) and Milan(4-hours), Italy and only 1.5 hours away via train from Geneva, Switzerland. Terrain...With both the Italian and French Alps to choose from, the possibilities are endless. The heli-skiing is offers terrific alpine (above the tree line) skiing with up to 6000 foot descents, +40-degree pitches as well as mellow powder runs. It ranks right up there with La Grave for glaciers and thrills. The region offers excellent resort and lift-accessed backcountry terrain for intermediate and advanced skiers.
Language...Italian is obviously is the official language but English is spoken by our guides and in towns. French is also useful when we travel often by the international crowd on holiday there. Weather...This is always the subject on a skiers mind and particularly important for heli-skiing. Our itinerary will vary with the weather as the helicopter cannot fly in cloudy weather. Average daytime temperatures range from 5ºC (45ºF) at the base -15ºC (-1ºF) at top elevations. Currency...Italy is part of the European Union and recently converted to the Euro (€). ATMs are available in in D'Aosta and Courmayeur to directly withdraw Euros. Banks are open (except Sunday) to exchange travelers checks if necessary.
